Are you a Deputy or Assistant HR Manager presently looking for the next step in your career? An independent food retailer in South West London requires somebody to shape and implement HR policy and work closely with Training and Operations to develop a family style and inclusive culture.

Job Description
As a Generalist HR Manager you will oversee the introduction of all HR Policy as part of an overall People Plan for the business to ensure a coordinated people development plan is delivered to meet the overall aspirations of the company.
Job Purpose
  • Take ownership of the Recruitment, interview, selection and hiring process
  • Manage procedures in Employee relations, wellness, health and counselling
  • Conduct Policy development and documentation
  • Plan organisational departmental growth
  • Ensure Company compliance with employment regulatory requirements
  • Development of a culture that emphasises quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development and high performance.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment, interview, selection and hiring process
  • Keeps job descriptions up to date, accurate and compliant with all regulatory requirements
  • Develops training and performance programs to ensure all employees are familiar with their job responsibilities, as well as relevant legal and safety requirements
  • Creates and updates compensation strategy for salaries, rates and bonuses
  • Handles investigation and resolution of employee issues, concerns and conflicts
  • Ensures all employment practices comply with regulatory requirements
  • Co-ordinates all HR training programs and provides necessary education and materials including workshops, manuals and employee handbook
  • Maintain, review and update the in-house employee training system
  • Review and update new employee induction program
  • Maintain and update employee record files to include training assessments, external certificates, observations, appraisals and disciplinary
  • Assists with the selection of external training programs
  • Review and update the employee handbook ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements
